Operation Christmas Child Benefits Children Around the World!
Hello again, Do you have a heart for children? Would you like to help? You can! I am a year round volunteer for Samaritans Purse and our church, Second Baptist Church of Walworth, is collecting items for "Operation Christmas Child", a Samaritans Purse Project that gives children hope and a chance to know the Gospel. This is a big project and just because it is called Operation Christmas Child it doesn't mean every child will get their shoebox at Christmas. They start distributing at Christmas and distribute all year long. It would be hard to deliver them all at once! Hence our project of collecting throughout the year. National Collection week for all shoeboxes is the week before and the Monday of Thanksgiving. (Monday, November 18 to Monday, November 25 this year.) Each month we have specific items that we collect. You can help us collect! We have placed collection boxes at Mark's Pizzeria and the Town Clerk's office at the Walworth Town Hall. The collection boxes each have items for the month listed on them. We welcome any donations not just the listed items, but they must be something we can pack in the shoeboxes. Go to Samaritanspurse.org to find out what can be packed.
NOTE: Usually in November we host a Packing Party, where people can gather and join in the fun of packing shoeboxes. Due to the Carona virus restrictions, we will not be hosting a party this year. IF YOU and YOUR FAMILY would like to come and pack, please contact Mary Stupin at 315 986 2809 and sign up to pack shoeboxes after church on Sunday. She will let you know which Sundays are still available and what the procedures will be. The Fellowship Hall, where the packing is being done, has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized and surfaces are disinfected after each use. Thank you.
Help us collect items all year and funds for shipping the shoeboxes. If you'd like to donate items, we have collection boxes in two places, listed above, that you can drop off your items of donation. If you'd like to help us ship shoeboxes, you can adopt a box to send by sending a donation to Second Baptist Church of Walworth, PO Box 68, Walworth NY 14568. I would like to thank you for you support in collecting, funding, sharing this information with others, and packing shoeboxes to ship in November. If you have any questions or if you would like more information on how you can help, please contact me at: mestupinocc@gmail.com
Thank you, Mary Stupin / Drop-off Team Leader Volunteer
