Heaven Bound?
Heaven-bound?
Are you heaven-bound? That's an extremely important question. When your life on earth is over (and it can happen at any moment and at any age), what happens to you? Although your physical body dies, you (your soul) lives on. But where does it go? According to the Bible, there are only two alternatives, either Heaven, a place of eternal peace and joy in the presence of God, or Hell, a place of eternal darkness and torment. I don't know about you, but I prefer the peace and joy. How can you know your final destination? This is another very important question. But before answering it, you need to understand that God has standards, very high standards. They are outlined in the Ten Commandments. Unfortunately, no human can possibly meet them. And if we're honest with ourselves, we know that we've broken at least some of them over the course of our lives. That's why we're called sinners. It's not a pretty term, but it's accurate. And since there is no sin allowed in Heaven, we have a problem. And unless a solution can be found, we are headed to Hell and eternal punishment for our sins. The good news is that there is indeed a solution. Want to hear the Good News? Here it is in a nutshell: God loves you so much, and wants you to spend eternity with Him in what is also called Paradise, that He made a way for you to have all your sins erased, every single one of them, past, present, and future. Now that's really good news! That's similar to a judge on earth saying "not guilty" and there is no penalty or punishment for what we've done. We're set free! ..... So how did God do it? The solution As I said, God loves you so very much and doesn't want to send anyone to Hell. But since our sins deserved punishment, someone had to pay the price. If not us, then who? Well, God decided that He would bear the punishment Himself. So Jesus (God's Son) took upon Himself all the sins of the world, suffered a horrible death for them on the cross, and descended into Hell. But Hell could not keep Him there, because He is God, and by His very nature, pure and sinless. So on Easter morning, He arose from the dead and soon ascended into Heaven, where He is waiting for us to join Him. He died so that we might live! Now that's love!! But there is still a minor problem. What's the new problem? The problem is that many people just don't believe it. It's too easy, or too good to be true. Don't I have to earn my way into Heaven? (You know, good deeds outweighing the bad?) No!!! All you have to do to have your sins forgiven and get to Heaven, is just repent (make a decision to turn away from them), believe that Jesus died for you, and then invite Him into your heart. That's it! Do that and you're heaven-bound. Will we see you there? We hope so! If you have questions, or want someone to pray with you, let us know. We love you too!
