WALWORTH YOUTH CENTER a division of Scarlet Thread Ministries
BORED AFTER SCHOOL? Why not chill at the Walworth Youth Center? Housed next door to the church at the Walworth Baptist Community Center, 3697 Main Street, Walworth, it's a great place to go.
The cost? Nothing! That means a place to hang with friends... and play ping pong, pool, air hockey, Foosball, Gaming (WII, Playstation, and more), Board games, group games, get homework help, snacks and a lot more!
We are open Thursdays from 3-6 PM for students in grades 6-12. Come join us!!
The Walworth Youth Center's desire is to become a beacon of hope for parents and students alike. Not just within church circles, but within the surrounding community as well. Our goal is to become a valued resource that school counselors and area programs look to as a safe place to refer students or to partner up with for events.
The Harvest Auction has been held at Second Baptist for over 50 years. In the early years the proceeds went towards heating the building and then a special project. Now the proceeds go towards the Harvest Fund. This fund blesses our friends in the community. In the past we have helped families who have lost their home to a fire, assisted others with medical bills, school supplies for children whose mom had cancer, gas cards for families traveling for daily medical treatments and auto repair for a single mom.
At the Harvest Auction there are fruits and vegetables to bid on as well as a baked foods contest which welcomes all participants. All of the bakery items are then bid upon. Each year there are theme baskets raffled off. It is a wonderful evening of friends gathering together to chat and share in refreshments.
This project is a time for our church family to work together and experience the blessings of team work.
We strongly encourage the spiritual growth of individual believers. Reading and studying the Bible is a key element of this growth. Accordingly, we offer the following opportunities:
· Sunday School - prior to worship (currently Adults only) (except the summer months) · Bible Study - Thursday evenings* · Men's Study Group - Thursday mornings*
* for more information use the Bible Study Question button.
Through World Vision we have been supporting a young boy in Malawi since 2009. He enjoys soccer - all the photos of him include a soccer ball! He is in school and doing well. We enjoy hearing from him and sending letters and cards. World Vision helps not only Funsani and his family, but the village. For more information about World Vision and how you might sponsor a child or to learn more about their various ministries and what they do, go to www.worldvision.org.
